Have you heard about transit tour? Incheon (ICN) has to be one of biggest airport in the world, with the longest layover I’ve experienced. I have to say though it’s one of the best not because of the blazing fast free wifi but because of the cultural experience placed around the airport and the selection of shops inside. I thought I was in a mall! How many of us go through an airport and learn nothing of the country we are in?!
To kill my 10-hour waiting time going back to the US I decided to do the tour. As a holder of Philippine passport, there is no visa required (transit tour only) as long as you have an onward ticket for your next intended destination.
There are many tours to choose from, each have different itineraries. I chose the 5 -hour tour that includes River walk (Cheong Gye Cheon stream), Gyongbokgung Palace, the National Folk Museum, lunch at a local restaurant (gotta love Korean food!) and shopping along the busy Insadong street. I was not in the market to buy souvenir but I had a great time wandering around taking some street paparazzi shot (on my next post) despite the very cold freezing weather.
Obviously there wasn’t much time to explore, but it was a great way to get a quick overview of Seoul and what could make a nice getaway at a future date. I would love to visit Seoul again. An-nyŏng-hi ga-se-yo!
