Star Cruise Virgo

I have never gone on a cruise before but I have always wanted to. So I was a bit excited when finally it happened. Nino and I enjoyed the 4 days 3 nights adventure with Star Cruise Virgo. The cruise started and ended in Singapore, with ports of call in Penang (Malaysia) and Phuket (Thailand).

DSC_5732aAfter checking out from our hotel, we rode a taxi going to the Harbourfront Center to check in. The boarding procedure was smooth because priority were given to balcony class passengers. On the way to the ship, we stopped by various performances for photo-ops along with different mascots to play around. Around 1:30 PM we were already on board. The Grand Piazza looked stunning! The bigger than life three golden horses and the glass elevator made the lobby more magnificent. We were greeted with cold drinks which was quite refreshing since the weather outside was humid and I was happy to see a lot of Filipino crew who made our stay more pleasant.

We had an ocean view stateroom with balcony and we were really satisfied with our room choice. The full length sliding doors were perfect for viewing the sea and the chairs at the balcony were just inviting. Detailed itineraries which called star navigator were laid on our bed. It had a list of activities, shows, dining options and other information for the day. The good news on booking the balcony class was the dining credit of $S200 which you can use around the ship A La Carte restaurants.

Before the ship sailed, there was a compulsory safety briefing  for all passengers on board. They taught us how to put a life jacket and other important drills in case of emergency. Afterwards, we went to the lobby and the crew greeted us with a welcome dance followed by a live music from the house band.

smile! :)

We toured around the ship and it was huge! There is an outdoor pool, gym and spa located on Deck 12 mid. A basketball court, mini golf and jogging track on Deck 13 and many other amenities to keep you busy. I was particularly impressed with the Lido theater because of its state-of-the-art design and lighting.

I realized that there was so much food on this vacation! Apparently, 6 meals is being served daily- you may choose to go or not to go. Cruise fare includes meals and selected beverages at Bella Vista (Western food) on Deck 6, Pavillion (Chinese food) also on Deck 6 and Mediterranean Buffet on Deck 12.

I was thankful that I didn’t experience sea sickness at all. The ship was so stable that we did not even feel that we are on the ship in the middle of the sea. It was relaxing to just sit or walk around enjoying the cold breeze of the ocean. I will blog the shore excursions on my next post. Overall, we enjoyed this short getaway to the sea and hope to go on another cruise soon.
