The road from Durango to Telluride was one of the most scenic drives I have ever experienced. Although we went on this road trip during the later part of fall, the route we took was lined with a lot of trees that still had leaves of gold. It was spectacular.
Telluride, a former mining town, is one of the most picturesque towns in Colorado. The downtown is filled with quaint little shops, restaurants, galleries and absolutely beautiful backdrops of mountains that are usually capped with white during the colder months of the year.
After we arrived downtown and checked into our hotel, we immediately jumped at the chance to get on the free gondola ride up and over to Mountain Village. The sight was picture perfect! You could see the whole town of Telluride with the mountains in the background. The Mountain Village mirrored places that you would usually see in one of the more sophisticated destinations in Europe. The modern architecture and the ski area which were laid out in the Alps made the village elegantly picturesque. I bet the condos and apartments there are expensive. 😛
Despite the cold weather, we managed to walk around town the next day. This place is a must-visit destination when you’re in Colorado. Here are a few photos from our recent trip.
